Through the action “Rebooting the Food System”, EU youth will be empowered to advocate for sustainable and inclusive solutions for a globally just food system. The action focuses on enabling youth to engage and campaign for producers and workers in global food supply chains and for the inclusion of agroecological principles in EU and national food policies. The action also focuses on gender equality by ensuring that the voices of female activists and farmers in the EU and the Global South are heard.
Activities
- We will implement an interactive youth communication campaign, called CrEATe, to raise awareness of the challenges of the global food system. Through multimedia content and street actions, we will present agroecology as a possible alternative to the current agri-food system.
- We will realize global citizen education activities, training young people to become "ambassadors" for a fairer agri-food system. The most active participants will be able to stay involved in the project, participating in youth conferences and international exchanges and meeting with policy-makers to present their proposals. We will create a capacity building program for young farmers, training them in sustainable agricultural practices and advocacy tools. We will also foster the exchange of best practices between farmers in the Global North and Global South.
- We will conduct studies on the negative impacts of the current food system on human rights, climate, and biodiversity. Other studies focus on agroecology and due diligence as alternative visions for the future.
