P.O.W.E.R project intends to contribute to support, empower and build the capacity of independent civil society organisations active at local, regional, national and EU level in combating GBV and championing EU values, thereby contributing to women full enjoyment of rights, the equal empowerment of women and men, in all their diversity.
Violence against women is rooted in women’s unequal status in society, and that status reflects the unbalanced distribution of social, political and economic power among women and men in society. It is one of the most pervasive human rights violations of our time and a form of discrimination that results in, or is often likely to result in physical, sexual, psychological or economic harm or suffering to women. In this context, the contribution of feminist organizations, anti-violence centers and the realities of civil society is crucial to improving the Italian anti-violence system.
P.O.W.E. R intends to strengthen the transformative potential of territorial realities, supporting the deployment of innovative and sustainable interventions to a) start up, improve, strengthen direct support measures aimed at enabling women to leave violence, b) develop the capacities and skills of territorial actors and anti-violence services, c) raise awareness, strengthen young people’s role and capacities to identify and act innovative practices in response to incidents of gender-based violence and discrimination according to an intersectional and transfeminist approach, d) promote feminist knowledge and research, foster policy development and influence policy and decision-making systems.
