The training proposes to address the issue of climate change with a g-local perspective, that is, one capable of combining the global dimension of the phenomenon with local action. Through practical exercises and discussion among participants and attendees from different countries around the world (particularly Austria, Italy, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda), this meeting will offer practical tools for:

  • Identify key climate change challenges and impactful local solutions;
  • Address gender equality as a critical part of climate advocacy initiatives;
  • Strengthen community engagement and inspire collective climate action.

Program

09:30 - Greetings and introduction: why is cross-cultural dialogue important in the face of global challenges such as climate change?

With Lucia Imbriaco (World project manager, WeWorld Italy), Calvince Mikingo (Program Manager, WeWorld Kenya) and Michael Asudi (Organization of Africa Youth Country Coordinator, Kenya).

09:45 - Contemporary challenges of climate change and experiences of action, with:

  • Stefania Migliavacca - SYDIC PR Vice President, professor of energy and climate change economics and author of numerous scientific publications on these topics (Milan, Italy).
  • Washington Mboya - environmentalist, author and community development expert with over five years of experience in promoting climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development (Nairobi, Kenya).

10:30 - Interactive workshop: participants will be presented with scenarios related to climate change. Through the participation and discussion of people from different social, economic, climate, and cultural backgrounds, participants and attendees will develop strategies to address climate challenges from a social and environmental justice perspective.

The initiative is in English and is open and free. Registration is required through the form. It is recommended the participation of people working with/for youth, such as educators, facilitators, and Third Sector workers.

The event is sponsored by the EU-funded Erasmus+ project WORLD: Our World Our Planet. The project aims to promote intercultural dialogue and solidarity among young people from different countries (specifically Austria, Italy, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) by crossing borders through online interactions. The project will help to actively engage young people in promoting more effective and coherent climate change solutions at the National, European and International levels through intercultural dialogue and participatory processes that take into account the gender perspective.
